Ryan Murphy’s ‘Scream Queens’

Ryan Murphy’s recently-announced anthology for Fox titled Scream Queens has cast Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead roles.

Roberts’ casting may not come as too big of a surprise to fans of Murphy’s work. She has starred in numerous seasons of American Horror Story including the most recent installment Freak Show, currently airing on FX.

Scream Queens is a comedy-horror series (a genre which Murphy has strangely described as a first-of-its-kind) that was ordered straight to series by Fox. The show “revolves around a college campus which is rocked by a series of murders.”

Fox heads previously described Scream Queens with high praise. “We loved every element of the pitch for this show — the genre-bending concept, which blends true horror with big comedic moments […] the diverse and unforgettable characters,” they said.

With the two leads now cast, expect Scream Queens to line up a slew of supporting roles before filming begins sometime in 2015.

The anthology will premiere in the second half of 2015 on Fox. The show has a 15-episode order.
